Get Involved

The most effective way to support afterschool programs in Iowa is to be an advocate. From participating in meetings, to writing letters, to coming to events, there are numerous ways to get involved.

Thank you for all your work and interest in afterschool in Iowa as an afterschool advocate.  As you know, the benefits of afterschool programs for students and communities are tremendous and well documented. While there are millions of students in afterschool programs throughout the United States, there are twice as many who want to get in but do not have access to a quality afterschool program.

The national Afterschool Alliance has asked the Iowa Afterschool Alliance to reach out to elected officials to make sure they understand the value of afterschool programs. Please consider being an Iowa Afterschool Advocate. There are several ways you can help, such as attending candidate town hall meetings or sharing information on social media, to name a few.

The first step is complete the profile below. It will help us know how you can help and ensure policymakers at the state and national levels understand the value of afterschool programs.

Thank you,

The Iowa Afterschool Alliance Team
